Glosary Unit 4-5 and Look Up

Unit 4-5

Tought: difficlut to chew; not tender.
Tender: soft or delicate in substance.
Regret: wish you had not done.
Toll: a fee demanded by an authority for some right or privilege, as for driving along a road.
To sting: to prick or wound with a sharpointed part of the body that often contains poison or venom.
Fog: a cloudlike mass or layer of water droplets near the surface of the earth.
Milkman: a person who sells o delivers milk.
Hunger: a strong need or desire for food.
Geese: a wild or farm bird, web-footed and able to swim well, larger and with a longer neck and legs than a duck.
Wrinkle: a small crease in the skin, as from aging.
Portrait: a representation of a person, esp. of the face.
Strap: a narrow strip of material, especially leather, used for holding things together.
Hoover: vacuum cleaner.
Wasp: a slender winged insect with a narrow abdomen and a powerful sting.
Vandalism: malicious destruction or damage of private or public property.
Sneeze: to produce air or breath suddenly, forcibly, and loudly through the nose and mouth by involuntary action.
Thick: heavy, not easily poured.
Wish: desire.

Self-esteem: a realistic respect for or favorable impression of oneself, self-respect.
Hopscotch or skipping: children games.
Delusion: the state of being deluded.
Guilty: responsible.
To roam: to travel without purpose; wander.

Glosary A Convict's Tale

Chapters 1-6

Convict: a person found guilty of a criminal offence and serving a sentence of imprisonment
Maid: a female servant
Housekeeper: a person, usually a woman, whose job is to manage the shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc, in a house or an institution
Sewer: an artificial passage, usually underground, for carrying off waste water and refuse
Court: a place where legal justice is administered
Proud: feeling pleasure or satisfaction over something thought of as bringing credit or honor to oneself
Tablecloth: a cloth for covering the top of a table
Buns: a round bread roll, plain or sweetened

Advice: an opinion or recommendation offered as a guide to action.
Temper: a state of mind or feelings;habit of mind;
Relief: a feeling of comfort or ease caused by the ending or stopping of pain or distress 
Trust: reliance on the goodness, strength, or ability of a person or thing;confidence

Deck: a floorlike surface taking up one level of a hull of a vessel
Drown: to die from being put under wáter
Sickness: a particular disease or malady

Yard: the ground that is immediately next to, or that surrounds, a house, public building, etc
Bruises: to injure by striking or pressing, without breaking the skin but causing a discolored spot to develop

Glossary introdution

In our first English class, we have learnt some words.
These are some of them:
   -Landmarks: a feature in the landscape or an object in an area that is easily noticed
   -Cliffs: high steep face of a rock
   -Wheat: The grain of a cereal grass used in the form of flour
